Baroness Thatcher died this morning following a stroke, her spokesman Lord Bell said.
Margaret Tatcher was the first women prime ministerand the world the longest-serving (1979–1990) Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of the 20th century. Soviet journalist called her the “Iron Lady”, a nickname which became associated with her uncompromising politics and leadership style. As Prime Minister, she implemented Conservative policies that have come to be known as Thatcherism.
Lady Thatcher earned a place in the history books as the first woman prime minister when she entered Downing Street in 1979.
