British Design Awards: Olympic Torch by Barber Osgerby Studio

Like yesterday, today we are going to talk about another British Design Awards of this year. This time the focus is on the Olympic Torch by Baber Osgerby Studio.

Barber Osgerby studio was founded in 1996 by the very talented duo: Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby. This duo was recognised several times for their talent and they are known as one of the world’s most innovative creative design consultancies working in architecture, interiors and exhibition design.

This designers already worked with Flos, Cappellini, Magis, Vitra, Venini, Swarovski, Flos and Established & Sons, among others.

‘It was important to us that it represented the relay and the nation, and captured some of the history of the games,’ explains Jay Osgerby who created the torch with design partner Edward Barber  ‘We wanted it to symbolise modernity, illustrating how advanced UK design, engineering and manufacturing are.’

According to Elle Decoration “This golden beauty takes the design of Olympic torches to new heights, doing away with fussy details in favour of something streamlined, polished and supremely suited to its function”.
