An exciting week for London has begun, with London Fashion Week and London Design Festival kicking off. The second edition of London Fashion Week 2017 is in full force, only wrapping up on tuesday. The weekend is as expected the biggest gatherer of crowds around the shows and we’re here to show you all the highlights from the first three days of the best fashion celebration in the planet!
Giorgio Armani came to London to show his collection for the first time in over ten years and it was, as expected, a huge sucess. He brought his show to the capital to celebrate the opening of his new flagship shop.
All of the modelling industry’s big names were there this season, as 16-year-old modelling prodigy Gerber made her debut on the Burberry runway.
One of last season’s biggest trends, ruffles, are back for round two. At Simone Rocha, virginal white gowns were designed with frills so big they were collapsing to the floor. Elsewhere, Ryan Lo used them to decorate evening gloves, while at Preen by Thornton Bregazzi ruffles formed all-over cascading tiers on asymmetric pastel dresses.
Yellow is the way to go! Spicing things up with bold shades, the colour appeared on tailored suit jackets at Molly Goddard, pleated shirt dresses at Ports 1961 and all manner of dots, blooms and Trompe L’oeil prints at Mary Katratzou.
Speaking of Molly Goddard, the irreverent stylist put on a show at London Fashion Week. “I wanted to just slow everything down so that people could actually look at the girls, see their personalities” she told Vogue.
There was no lack of celebrities and parties at LFW. Here we can see Vogue’s editor-in-chief Edward Enninful and contributing editors Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss at the Burberry show.
